Our bulk customer upload tool, accessed by selecting the CSV option after clicking the Add customers button, enables you to add multiple customers to your dashboard in one go whilst also including additional details for them such as their individual and/or company name, along with up to three custom references.
Once CSV is selected, the window will expand to show two steps to the upload process.
The first step is to download your CSV template.
When you open your template you will see a set of common headers identifying which information to enter in each of the columns. Please note that this differs slightly depending on whether or not you have previously created metadata (custom reference) fields within your dashboard. Please see table below.
If you have not yet created any customer metadata, and so have the three column headings which include YOUR_CUSTOM_FIELD, you are able to replace these with customer reference fields of your choice. For example, if I were collecting payments on behalf of a gym I may want to keep a record of the membership type each customer has signed up to. To do this I could change the column header metadata.YOUR_CUSTOM_FIELD_1 to metadata.Membership_Type - note the '_' used to separate the two words.
I could then enter the corresponding reference in that column for each customer I am adding e.g. Gold Package. (For custom reference values you do not need to include a '_' between words).
Alternatively, if you have previously created metadata fields within your dashboard, your top three keys will be displayed as the metadata column headings. These column headings should not be edited.
Once you have entered your customers' details into your template and saved the file, you can now upload it back to your dashboard via step two of the CSV upload window. Simply click the grey box to select your template to upload and then click the import customers button below.
Your new customer data will then upload to your dashboard and go through a short validation process. If there are no errors, your upload will confirm as validated and you will be able to view the information you have entered in the table below.
Once you're sure everything is correct, you can then click the send invitations button and confirm you wish to process the import to send authorisation requests to your customers so they can set up their Direct Debit with you.
(If there are any errors during the validation process you will be provided with a message with details of the error, along with an option to try again).
Once the import has been processed you will be able to view these newly uploaded customers in the pending customer view of your dashboard, accessed by filtering to pending status using the options at the top of your customer overview page. Once authorised, they will move to active status as usual.
If you need to navigate back to your imports page at any time you can do so via your settings menu in the top right of your dashboard.
