GoCardless is an online payments processor and as so consequently we do not offer the facility for customers to sign up over the phone as standard.
If you have a standard account customers must fill in the online Direct Debit Instruction form themselves as this authorises GoCardless to collect payments from their bank account on your behalf. We also ask customers to ensure they provide us with an email address they own and have regular access to as this is where their payment notification emails will be sent.
You can be there to guide customers through the sign up process and may prefer to set people up in person using a tablet or mobile device if possible.
Please be aware that signing customers up yourself by taking their details and inputting them into the online form is one of our restricted activities in our terms of service (see point 21 here) and can result in account closure.
We do offer the ability to set customers up over the phone if you are signed up to a GoCardless Pro account as payments will be processed through your own Direct Debit Service User Number rather than ours. If you want to upgrade to a Pro account please contact our Sales team.
