Today we are excited to invite you to announce a brand new feature you have been
asking for: GoCardless - Zapier integration! Zapier automatically moves data
between GoCardless and more than 5,000+ apps available in Zapier to automate
repetitive tasks and focus on what you do best. And the best part is - no code is
necessary to create these workflow automations.
About Zapier
Zapier is an online tool that helps you automate your workflow between two or more
apps, such as GoCardless and Slack, Mailchimp or any other app you may use on a
regular basis. A Zap (an automated workflow) can be set up within minutes. Read
more about Zapier basics on their blog.
Features
A Zap uses the concepts of triggers and actions. The best way to think about it is as
follows: a trigger is an event that starts a Zap. When something happens with
GoCardless payments, this triggers an action in another app.
Currently, we offer the following types of triggers and actions:
1. Status updates to your Instant Bank Payments and Direct Debit Mandates on
the GoCardless side, such as:
- New Payment Authorisation Request (a new Instant Payment or
Mandate has been initiated) - Payment Authorisation Approved (your customer has approved either
an Instant Payment or Mandate and given us their bank details) - Payment Secured
- Payment Paid Out
- Payment Failed
- Mandate Cancelled
These update types can trigger actions in other Zapier apps.
For example, when a mandate is created in GoCardless (trigger), then notify
my accounting team on Slack (action).
2. Similarly, when something happens in other Zapier apps, you can build a
workflow that can trigger actions in GoCardless.
For example, when you get a new subscriber in Mailchimp (trigger), then
automatically create a direct debit mandate in GoCardless (action).
Currently, the following actions are available to use:
- Create an Instant Bank Pay payment
- Create a Direct Debit Mandate (Please note this action doesn’t create
payments against a mandate automatically!) - Create a Direct Debit Mandate Payment (creates a payment against an
existing mandate)
All actions can be set up for new or existing customers (you will need a
GoCardless Customer ID).
