Merchant name on customer bank statement (Add-on)
The "Merchant name on bank statement add-on" enables you to have your own Service User Number (SUN) or Creditor Identifier (CID). This means that your customers will see your business name on their bank statements instead of GoCardless Ltd. every time a payment is collected from their account on your behalf.
How to set up your business name on your customers’ bank statements
We’ve made it easy for you to display your business name on your customers’ bank statements, which could lower payment failure rates by up to 30%. Here’s how:

Go to the GoCardless Dashboard and choose “Settings” at the top-right of the screen

Select “Plans and add-ons”

Under “Optional add-ons”, select “Add”

Type your business name under “Custom name shown on bank statements” and select “Continue”

Set up your Direct Debit by filling in your details
You’re all set! We’ll notify you via email once your add-on has been set up (this might take up to two weeks).
IMPORTANT: The following applies to BACS, SEPA & Autogiro mandates if you’re using a partner integration.
If you’re currently using a partner integration, you will need to take additional steps to match your new customer mandates once your Service User Number (SUN) is set up to ensure your payment collection isn’t interrupted.
When the SUN is changed, the existing mandates are silently cancelled (i.e. without a customer email) from the old scheme identifier and silently set up on the new one.
If the integration you’re using can handle mandate-replaced events, then the mandate IDs will be updated automatically in their application. Otherwise, the mandates will need to be matched to the customer record manually. We recommend reaching out to the partner integration you’re using to confirm this.

What will my customers see on their bank statements?
Depending on the bank your customers use, they will see “GOCARDLESS” on their bank statements. Some banks allow a reference as well - if you’ve set this up in GoCardless, this will show up too. You can learn more about bank statement references here.
How long until my custom business name is set up?
Once you’ve filled in your Direct Debit details for the add-on, it usually takes us up to 2 weeks to process your request. We’ll notify you via email once it’s all set up and running.
