What is Capital powered by Pipe?
Capital powered by Pipe, offers a friendly capital access solution for businesses looking to grow. It leverages anonymised transaction data to offer quick, seamless funding, with continuous access to additional capital offers for merchants over time, enhancing growth without the hurdles of traditional funding options.
Who is Pipe and why is Capital powered by Pipe?
Pipe is a capital provider that specialises in offering unbiased funding solutions based on business performance data - like your revenue through GoCardless. We partnered with Pipe to provide small and mid-size businesses friendlier, streamlined access to growth capital - without needing to leave your dashboard.
How does Capital work?
Based on your business’s performance on GoCardless, you can receive a tailored capital offer, powered by our partner Pipe. You can choose to access as much of the offer or as little of your offer as needed, with payments tied to a percentage of your revenue. As your revenue increases, you may become eligible for additional capital offers.
How do I qualify for capital?
If you’re eligible, you’ll receive an offer based on your transaction data. You only need to verify your account by submitting basic business and ownership information and connecting with your bank, eliminating the need for credit checks, extensive documentation, or lengthy processes. Eligibility criteria may apply.
When can I qualify for capital?
Currently, GoCardless customers need four or more months of processing history with GoCardless to be eligible for a capital offer.
How do I get capital?
Unlocking capital is easy and should take only a few minutes. Here’s how:
- Go to the GoCardless dashboard and tap on the “Capital” tab on the left-hand side menu.
- Here you can see if you’re eligible for capital and if so, how much you could request. Tap on “Unlock capital” to get the application process started.
- Now select the amount you’d like to request by moving the slider. Remember, you don’t have to take all the capital at once and you can come back to access more of your advance as long as your offer is still active. Offers are active for 30 days.
- Once you’re happy with the amount and have reviewed the repayment structure, click “Continue”.
- Fill in a few details about you and your business and click “Continue”.
- Then complete the details about your business owners and click “Continue”.
- You will be connected to your bank for verification.
- Review the details of your advance and set up your Direct debit mandate for payments to Pipe. If you’re happy, click “Accept”. Pipe will get back to you in up to 48 hours. Once Pipe has approved your advance, Pipe will send the funding to your bank account in as little as 24 hours.
How much capital can I access?
The amount you can access depends on your business's historical revenue data and revenue projections. As your business scales and you build payment history, the amount of capital you can access will automatically grow with you. You’ll be notified of additional capital offers as you receive them, so you don’t need to apply for additional capital.
Can I get continuous access to capital?
Once you’re approved, you’ll automatically receive updated offers as you qualify, without needing to apply - minimising the effort, while maximising your profit potential.
Is there a credit check or do I need to provide personal collateral for the advance?
No, unlike traditional financing options, there are no credit checks and no personal guarantees involved with this capital product. This is because you can qualify for an offer based on your revenue on GoCardless, allowing you to access the working capital you need without risking your personal assets or finances.
What are the costs and fees associated with using Capital powered by pipe?
You’ll get a transparent flat fee, calculated as a percentage of the funded amount, which is spread over the payment period for simplicity.
How do I make payments for the advance?
You will set up a Direct Debit via GoCardless to make payments to Pipe. Payments happen automatically as revenue is received and are made as a percentage of sales, aligning with your revenue flow for increased flexibility and ease. You can view future and historic payments via your dashboard.
Do I have to use my whole offer at once?
You can choose to advance as much or as little of your offer as you want until the offer expires. This makes it easy to just use what you need, when you need it, and only pay for the amount that you advance.
How can I increase my cash advance?
If you only used part of your limit and later want to advance more while your offer is still active, the terms will adjust accordingly, which is transparently displayed in your dashboard. For example, if you have a £100k limit and a 10% payment rate, you can choose to only use £50k and your payment rate will update to 5%, with your fee fluctuating as well. If you advance another £20k, your payment rate will increase to 7% (2% increase).
Why am I not eligible?
The reasons why you’re not seeing the offer yet might have to do with the volume of your transactions with GoCardless. Don't worry - as your revenue increases, you may become eligible for capital offers. Check back every month or so to see if you can access capital.
Where can I go and check my payments?
Go to the GoCardless dashboard and click on “Capital” on the left-hand side menu. You’ll see two menus at the top, called “Payments” and “Advance”. Here you can see how much you’ve paid already and how much is left of your advance.
