The Betailingsservice Direct Debit scheme follows a different format to many other Direct Debit schemes.
Rather than creating a payment when you're ready to charge a customer, payments must instead be created and submitted for processing 8 working days prior to the start of the month in which you wish to charge the customer. You can specify any date within the month to charge the customer.
IMPORTANT: If the Direct Debit authorisation and payment creation deadlines below are not met, the customer would not be able to be charged in the month that immediately follows.

Note: 'M' refers to the month the customer is being charged in. 'WD' refers to working (business) days.
*If you are collecting payments internationally with FX, please allow an extra 2-4 working days to receive your payout.
Working example
If you need to charge a customer on any date in July 2018, you would need to create their payment in GoCardless by 4pm on the 20th June 2018. The table below illustrates this example in calendar format.
Note: This is referring to dates/days as they fall in 2018.
