Provide visibility and control to customers
VRP Mandate Requirements: Visibility and Control
Variable Recurring Payments (VRPs), enabled by Open Banking in the UK, allow you, the merchant, to collect flexible, recurring payments using the Faster Payments rail for instant settlement.
The customer grants a single authorisation (the mandate) which enables these variable payments. To maintain compliance and customer trust, the VRP framework requires you to provide the payer (end customer) with full visibility and control.
This documentation guides you through meeting two core requirements:
1. Visibility - Show relevant information about the VRP mandate to the payer
2. Control - Allow the payer to cancel the VRP mandate easily at any time
| Requirement | Details | How we may support this functionality |

Show relevant information about the VRP mandate to the payer |
The payer must be able to see a list of their VRP mandates, with the following information:
|
Our existing endpoints will enable you to retrieve all of the information you need. |
|
|
The payer must be able to find a detailed view of each VRP mandate:
The payer should be able to find a “cancel” button in this view, see next requirement |
|
|
Allow the payer to cancel the VRP mandate |
The payer must be allowed to cancel the VRP mandate. There are three ways in which the payer may do so (in order of preference):
Should the payer contact GoCardless, we will direct them to you for managing their mandate. |
The mandates endpoint supports cancellation. |
