Paying an invoice (GoCardless for Xero)
Xero has launched a new version of the GoCardless integration as of the 7th of April 2021. If these guides do not reflect your experience please switch to the new support guide here.
Paying an invoice with GoCardless is simple, safe and secure. It’s a quick process to make a payment instantly and also set up future invoice payments to be collected automatically on each due date, saving you time and effort.
To pay with GoCardless, follow the steps below:
1. Click Pay now on the invoice
- Open your invoice and click on the Pay now button.
- A new window will open showing your invoice details, which include an invoice reference, invoice date, payment amount, and due date.
- Click on the blue Pay button when you’re ready.
2. Fill out the online payment form
Enter your bank account details on our secure form. The details required will vary depending on your country and the payment type that the business has requested.
3. Setting up Direct Debit payments
For Direct Debit payments, you have the option to automate future payments to the business so that it can be collected automatically on the invoice due date. Once you input your bank details, select Yes, pay future invoices automatically. We recommend this approach as it saves you the hassle of manually paying for future invoices. All automated payments are fully protected by Direct Debit scheme regulations.
What happens if I choose the automatic payment option?
No further action is required from you. You will be notified by email before any future payments are taken on due dates.
If you don't choose this option, you will be required to click on the Pay now option on each future invoice, select Direct Debit and approve the payment.
Mandates requiring multiple signatures
If your bank account requires multiple signatures to authorise Direct Debit mandates, you can get more detailed instructions here.
