Quick steps to getting started

For those of you looking to get started with GoCardless as quickly as possible, we've put together the key pieces of information you'll need within this section so you can get up and running in next to no time.

1. Choose how you would like to use GoCardless

There are three methods of use available to you, which can be changed at any time. If you're unsure, we recommend starting with our dashboard. We do advise against collecting payments using multiple platforms at the same time though, as this can often lead to confusion and increases the likelihood of duplicate payments being charged.

2. Configure your account settings

We strongly recommend enabling two-step sign in before taking any further steps on your account. This significantly reduces the likelihood of someone illegitimately gaining access to your account. This is also a good opportunity to give your team their own access to your account as needed.

3. Collect your first payment

Taking a first payment is a great way to see how the process works. If starting with a test payment collecting from yourself, we recommend limiting the payment amount to the minimum denomination available for processing.

Please note: You will only be able to create payments once your account is fully verified.

4. Receive your funds

Once payment has been collected from your customer, those funds will then be paid out to you. You can only create and collect payments once your account has been verified, so we recommend starting this process as soon as possible.
