Why Partner with GoCardless
Setting up your own integrated GoCardless partner application gives your customers the ability to collect Direct Debit payments from their customers, managed all from within your platform.
You are able to design and build the GoCardless payment service into your platform so that it caters specifically to the needs of your customers and/or industry demographic.
You can provide the ability for your customers to collect one-off and recurring Direct Debit payments through your platform, offer automated payment reconciliation, and more, all whilst utilising GoCardless’ infrastructure to make the process simple and seamless.
If you would like more information, please see our webpage here.

How it all works

GoCardless enables businesses of all sizes to access Direct Debit systems across the world and manage payment collections all from within one single platform.

How the different schemes work within GoCardless
Each Direct Debit Scheme has it own rules and regulations, which determine everything from payment processing timings, notification requirements, through to customer bank statement references and chargeback (claim) procedures.
We’ve put together the following documents to help you get to grips with each.
You can see further information on each of the Schemes we offer by clicking here.
How you can earn revenue as a Partner
Becoming a GoCardless Partner is a great way to generate revenue from payments processed via your platform on behalf of your customers. You can choose between either receiving a revenue share (a percentage of the transaction fee charged against each payment) or integration fees (where you’d charge additional fees on top of GoCardless’ fees). You will need to choose one or the other though - unfortunately we don’t allow for both.
For more details on generating revenue as a Partner, please see our downloadable Partners Commercial Options datasheet at the end of this article.
The Partner Agreement
Partner Agreement
Before you start building your integration, we’ll first need you to agree to our Partner Agreement. This document outlines what commitments we both need to agree in order to make our partnership a success, plus it includes more details on topics like security, your responsibilities when integrating your software with our platform, use of each other’s brand marks, liability, and termination rights. It also covers basic commercials (10% revenue or integration fees).
It’s really important you get familiar with this document, so please get in touch if you have any questions.
We may also ask you to sign an amendment to the partner agreement that details any additional commercial terms.
Merchant Agreement
Also note that all partners must also agree to our Merchant Agreement, since in order to operate as a partner you also need to open a standard GoCardless Account. This agreement governs your use of your account and also sets out each of our rights and our responsibilities in relation to the supply of payment processing services by us to you (where you ask us to process payments on behalf of your own business). A number of definitions that are set out in the Merchant Agreement directly apply to the Partner Agreement. Terms that are not defined in the Partner Agreement explicitly have the meaning given to them in the Merchant Agreement.
If you intend on working with GoCardless only as a partner (and will not be using your account to process your own payments) then the terms of the Merchant Agreement will not apply to you. Where you start using your account though, the terms will automatically apply.
When your merchants connect to your GoCardless integration, they will also need to agree to our Merchant Agreement (unless they already have a GoCardless account).
All merchants that have connected their GoCardless account to your integration will also be bound by the Connected Merchant Agreement. As both you and we will have full access to a connected merchant’s GoCardless account (and will enjoy full functionality of the account as if we were the connected merchant ourselves), we make this clear in the body of the agreement and we also detail the specific situations in which either of us may be liable for activity we engage in that affects the account.
Note that currently Merchants on our Pro package will sign a separate offline Merchant Agreement.
