Collecting an instant payment using an Instant Bank Pay paylink
Please note: Please note: The Instant Bank Pay feature is currently available for all merchants based in UK, US, Canada, EEA, Australia, and New Zealand who are collecting GBP payments from customers in the UK.
Please register your interest here if you'd like to be notified when Instant Bank Pay is available in your region.
Instant Bank Pay is our latest feature for GoCardless users. It enables you to request a payment from your customers and have the funds collected almost immediately following approval by your customer. And paylinks are a great way to use the feature!
You can create a paylink that can be sent to anyone who can then make a payment of whatever amount set in the paylink.
To add a new Instant Bank Pay paylink:
-
Navigate to the payments page
-
Next, click on Create payment and then on one-off payment
-
Click new customers
-
Enter the details of the payment and select Use Instant Bank Pay
-
Select Would you like to reassure your customers by asking them to approve future payments? if desired *
-
Click Create payment
* Would you like to reassure your customers by asking them to approve future payments? is enabled by default. It requires the customer to approve each subsequent payment created for them, via a button contained within an automated email, before the payment can begin processing.
Collecting a one-off payment from new customers
Please note: This option is not available if you collect payments in GBP.
For new customers that haven’t yet authorised you to collect payments from their account, but you wish to collect a payment from them immediately upon authorising.
Paylinks are a great option for taking payments from new and existing customers.
When a customer authorises via a paylink, the connected payment is created for them automatically as soon as they submit their details in the online authorization form. As the same paylink can be used by multiple customers paying the same amount, they’re often used on websites, newsletters, and other online publications.
-
Open your dashboard
-
Click the create payment button at the bottom of the navigation menu on the left
-
On the next screen click one-off payment and then on new customers
-
Here you can choose to either:
Enter the details of the payment you wish to collect (creating a new paylink)
Click on previously created one-off payments link to use an existing paylink
Please note: When creating a new paylink, the option Would you like to reassure your customers by asking them to approve future payments? is enabled by default. It requires the customer to approve each subsequent payment created for them, via a button contained within an automated email, before the payment can begin processing.
