The CSV authorisation request method allows you to upload customer information into your GoCardless account in bulk, and send authorisation invites to all in one go. The information you can add includes names, email notification language preference, and up to three references.
If you do not wish to add any details for your customers yourself, you may prefer to use the Email option instead.

Open your dashboard and click Customers

Click Invite customers

Select the Import option

Click the link in Step one to Download template

Open the csv template and add your clients’ details in the corresponding columns*

Save the completed csv template to your computer (or other device)

On the same page, use the choose file to select the completed CSV file from your device

Click Upload to upload the completed CSV to your dashboard
Your upload will be validated. You will be informed if there are any errors so you can rectify these and re-upload. -
Once your upload has been validated, click Send invitations
An authorisation request email will be sent out to all added customers, and their records will be created in your account with pending status.

The only required field is customer.email, all others are optional.

The customer.language field uses two-letter ISO 639-1 language codes, and must be entered in lower case. If this field is left blank, the language will default to English.

You can add up to three references to clients using the customer.metadata fields. Edit the capitalised text (all characters after ‘customer.metadata.’) in the metadata field title to rename the custom reference category, e.g. ‘customer.metadata.membership_type’.
